A Story about a Plane Crash

By Young Dae Jang

This story is about my host father.

One September 17, 2008, Bob Burdge had a singing group. Group members are Bob, Werner, Esther, Mallory, and Brian. Simetimes, they traveled to other cities. They usually took a car or a bus, but on that day, they took an airplane. That was the third time they took the plane. Werner flew the airplane.

The singing group went to Medicine Hat, Alberta. After they performed in a show, they planned to come home. They got on the plane. The plane stayed up about 8 minutes and suddenly hit the trees and it directly crashed into the South Saskatchewan River because the right hand engine was not working.

After a few minutes, all members in the group were seriously injured by this airplane accident. The pilot, Werner, banged his face against the dash. His nose was broken and his lower lip was bleeding because of his teeth.

Mallory also banged his head against the window of the plane, and he was bleeding from his head.

Bob severely dislocated his left and right foot bones and ankles. He had to stay in the hospital for six days in Calgary, Alberta. Now he still can’t use his legs freely and had to use a wheel chair for two months.

Fortunately, all the members are ok now.
