Welcome to the Fall 2008 Semester!

By Pamela den Ouden

We are back in school, and it's great to have the new students with us, as well as to see the returning students. Some are studying in other programs, and some are in split programs, taking Eng 050 or Eng 99 and coming to ESL classes as their new schedule permits.

.

Our semester got off to a great start with a game of Ultimate on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 4. At first, it was difficult to remember who was on each team, but we all had fun. After, we came back inside and enjoyed an ice cream treat of a Revello or a Fudgecicle. Below, Yu tackles his Fudgecicle!

B Reading class is working on a unit about bicycles. So far, we've learned about the history of the bicycle and the names of all the parts of the bicycle.

On Friday, Sept. 12, B Reading hosted guest speaker Wim Kok. Wim teaches geography at Northern Lights College, but he came to talk to our class about another passion of his, long-distance cycling. Twice, he has participated in the Paris-Brest-Paris event. He showed the medals he received for completing the course. We also watched a short video about the race. He has also cycled long-distance in Britain, and, of course, here in British Columbia.
